PERMISSION TO ATTEND AN OFF-CAMPUS EXCURSION – High School Excursion to Hoyts Cinema
The excursion is intended for this specific group of students as part of enhancing their learning in the following Key Learning Areas as follows:
- Music: Students have been studying film music. One of the composers studied is Hans Zimmer, who is famous for writing the music for many Dream Works productions. He is responsible for composing the music for “Hidden Figures”, and the film demonstrates some of his techniques.
- Science: Stage 4 have been learning about working scientifically and the film demonstrates the lives of scientists, the advancement of technology in the 1960s and the use of the scientific method in order to solve problems and send people into space.
- Mathematics: The film enhances their understanding and importance of number especially in a real life context – sending people into space.
- History: Stage 5 have been learning about the impact of the Industrial Revolution and how it has caused people to migrate to different areas around the world. They have been looking closely at the experiences of the African people who migrated to America and the inequality they have faced within that country.
A risk assessment has been made prior to the conduct of this excursion and potential hazards are also discussed and addressed.

Cost: $15.50 to be paid on or before Tuesday 14th of March.

Departure: 9:00 am sharp
Arrival: Returning to school grounds by 3:00 pm
What to Bring: Recess and lunch. Students may also bring money for food.
Transport on the day will be via public transport.

EXCURSION EXPECTATIONS
In order for students to be permitted to attend the excursion, they must:
- Be attired in the correct clothing on the day.
- Have submitted payment for the excursion.
- Have submitted permissions.
