Stage 4 & 5: Fascinating Fossils Workshop at The Australian Museum, 5th of April (Thursday)

The excursion is intended for this specific group of students as part of enhancing their learning in the following Key Learning Areas as follows:

 Stage 4

•         History – This term, students from Stage 4 students have been introduced to the historical and archaeological skills that have assisted in understanding the prehistoric and ancient world. This excursion will allow students to build on their understanding of archaeological investigations through the study of fossil remains.

Stage 5

•          Science – In Stage 5, students have been introduced to evolution and will be looking into geological time which takes a closer look at fossils and the fossil record. In the Fascinating Fossils workshop, students will follow the steps used by paleontologists in fossil interpretation and the reconstruction of animals using their fossil remains. They will compare the fossil remains from extinct Australian Megafauna with bones from their closest modern-day relatives.

A risk assessment has been made prior to the conduct of this excursion and potential hazards are also discussed and addressed.

Transport on the day will be via school bus and trains.   ·

Departure:       8:45am (We need to leave on time!)
Arrival:            Returning to school grounds by 3pm

Transport on the day will be via school bus and staff vehicles to Seven Hills station. Students will be taking public transport to and from the venue.

Please make full payment on or before Tuesday, 3rd of April 2018. 

WHAT TO BRING / WEAR

UNIFORM: Sports  Uniform
FOOD & DRINK: Please provide food for your child for the day, however, the students may bring money as there are food services closeby the venue.
EQUIPMENT : Notepad + pen/pencil
